City of Sheffield Water Polo Club is based at Ponds Forge. We are one of the biggest, and oldest clubs in the UK and one of only 2 clubs to host 2 teams in BWPL and 2 teams in conference league.

Fast Track to Elite Performance

Sheffield facilitates excellence in coaching, preparation training, team ethos building and cohesive co-ordinated administration, enabling talented aquatic athletes to forge their pathway into Regional and National Water Polo squads.

Teams of All Ages

Squads participate in age defined competition through to the national age groups and BWPL.
Our club competes at regional and national level, with high numbers of members gaining regional, national and International selection.

Throughout our club we promote teamwork, resilience, diversity, determination and sportsmanship.
All our coaches are Swim England qualified and DBS checked. Some of our club coaches also work at regional and national squad level.

Men’s water polo has a long and rich history in the city of Sheffield going back many many years –with records showing a successful team way back in the early 1900’s! Indeed, back in 1962 Sheffield Dolphins were one of the founder members of the National league –now BWPL.

The women’s section of the club is coached by Chris Motley, an ex-international player himself with a wealth of experience as a coach. Sheffield women currently have a team in the 1st Division and 2nd Division of the British Water Polo League (BWPL).
